British Card Jigsaws

'The Quiet Haven'

 Crown jig-saw, over 1000 pieces, 1950's

This picture of a typical fishing port in jigsawland is a perfect example of one of the many great British jigsaws from the 1950's and 60's. An initially calm relaxed setting bursts into life as you complete the puzzle and look ever closer. The illustrator obviously enjoyed him or herself throwing in lots of little details like the sleeping cat on the left and the fishermen chatting by the harbour. A graphic this easy to on the eye may never win the Turner prize, but is just the thing to consume a few hours in gentle relaxation.
